Coach McKinney

Coach Terrance McKinney brings a unique
skill set to the team. With over 10 years as
an AAU competitor and champion, he more than excelled in
events such as hurdles, high jump and triple jump, pentathlon, and the decathlon.
In high school, he was a state qualifier in the 110 hurdles, 300m hurdles,
4x400m relay, and high jump, setting a record in the 300m hurdles with a time
of 38.83 seconds. His outstanding performance earned him a nomination for
induction into the North Side High School Hall of Fame. At the collegiate
level, Terrance was a top 10 finisher in the National Junior College Athletic
Association (NJCAA) Track & Field Championship in hurdles and the
pentathlon, he received the NJCAA All American Award, and participated in the
NIKE Prefontaine Classic while pursuing professional status.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Coach McKinney is
a highly decorated Army officer, having been named the 2011 Indiana Soldier of
the Year, ranking 1st out of over 12,000 soldiers. He currently serves as an
Officer in the Florida National Guard's 20th Special Forces Group, exemplifying
discipline, leadership, and dedication.

Coach McKinney holds a bachelor’s degree in business
administration. His coaching philosophy centers on leading by example. His hands-on
approach ensures that athletes receive both guidance and inspiration during
their training sessions. With a combination of high-level athletic experience
and elite military training, Coach McKinney is committed to driving excellence
on and off the track. His coaching style helps to foster resiliency,
determination, and peak performance among Velocity Elite athletes, making him
an exceptional mentor for our aspiring athletes. Certified USATF and AAU Coach.
